why HK is regressing

People at work are working just for $$$. They will ONLY do the minimum of work to ensure they have money deposited in their bank account every month.

what can i do?

I cannot motivate them to do EXTRA enhancement on the tool because they have set up the basic features on the tool.

I am very disappointed.
I don't believe all the HK people work like them. It is just my bad luck that this kind of people always in my workplace.

um... well ... this situation happens almost everywhere, or any big corporate (I believe) ... i think it's just about monetary compensation. the motivation of your daily work/duty could be something not measured by $. like some other articles, the generation X or Y are having very different working attitdues when in comparsion to the older generation (like those were borned before 70's i spse). however, it's a also a good situation to test out your leadership/managment skill. do you feel good/great when you get a job done? a project delivered? an network outage being resolved? a contract being signed? ... i have very little real work experience in HKG, but i am pretty sure there's always a blend of mixed ppl in the organization.

Had you studied OB? Try to take a look on Jack Welsh about motivation.

In Hong Kong, boss trends to adopt some of the things in Western but still used the traditional method of doing business.

New generations are more money concerned right now because the situation is different in 80s, they even chose the undergraduate courses based on the income after graduated. I cannot pursuade them to take those programmes which could be more interesting to them.

More work done, more achievements and satisfaction. But they do not think like that.

Their theory is "Do more work, make more mistakes. Do less work, less mistakes. No work, no mistakes."

Can you believe it?

OB studied. the Maslow model.

Many people are still on the basic levels(the needs for safety, food, money...)

I am trying to achieve the top level (Self Actualization), I need more time and experience. I believe I can make it. It is just a matter of time.
